Radiation Oncology

This department treats about 200 patients daily using telecobalt therapy and HDR brachytherapy. About 65% of all cancer patients attending this institute avail radiation therapy during their course of treatment. External Beam therapy is delivered by one telecobalt units (Theratron-780C) from 8:00 AM to late night in three shifts on all working days. Multiple-fields, wedge, block and tangential fields at 80cm SSD are practiced as required. Now the department is well equipped with Linear Accelerator and CT Simulator. More than thousand patients were treated successfully with most sophisticated treatment modalities like VMAT and IMRT. PG - studies in radiotherapy leading to MD (RT) is available in this institute since 1973. Six PG students take admission every year for their MD degree.
