Gynecological Oncology


Gynecological Oncology deals with female cancer patients for prevention, palliation, early diagnosis and prompt adequate treatment. Departmental library has more than 100 books and periodicals for education and research purpose. A state level training on Pap Smear screening was conducted by the Department in collaboration with Department of Pathology for O&G Specialists of different districts. State level project on HPV self-collection and treatment of screened positive cases are being done by the department. Department organizes the Cervical cancer eradication day on 11th March every year.

Two batches of three days State level training for O&G specialists of DHH on colposcopy, biopsy and thermocoagulation for screening of cervical cancer were undertaken. Public awareness programmes are being done with the priority basis.

The main activities of this department are:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of female genital tract malignancies

  • Diagnosis of premalignant lesions and its proper treatment

  • Routine screening of female population for early diagnosis of cancer cervix amongst the patients attending the outdoor of the centre

  • Assisting in Mobile Cancer Detection Camps for screening of patients

  • Teaching and training of M.Ch. students

  • Training of Post-graduate students, in-service doctors and Para-medical workers

  • Training in Gynecologic Oncology of post- PG faculties

  • Undertaking research projects as priority
